Inward resemblances to parents
At a contact evening a woman asks Jozef Rulof how we receive character traits from our parents:
(Lady in the hall): ‘May I ask you something, Mr Rulof?
The characteristics which we got from father or mother, how do we get them then?’
Questions and Answers Part 4, 1952
Jozef knows that the human being and science believe this:
And the doctor says: ‘Yes, that is from your father.
She takes after mother, she takes after father.’
Madam, you have your own character, see, because ...

However, the influence of our parents lies on another level:
People say in psychology, that if your father or mother has talent, the child will also get it.
Madam, we say: that is not possible.
There is some influence.
And that is very simple.
There are even people who are still under the influence of the parents up to age seventy, and they do not have that independence, that feeling, those character traits, that will to release themselves from parents.

However, people often receive children who live in the same attunement:
But you always touch your own grade of thinking and feeling again.
Because you have to do with those lives.
Can you sense this?
And now you attract a life of feeling of your own accord, of course, which has attunement to yours.
And then it is called: ‘Yes, she looks like father.’

Reincarnating of character traits
Thanks to the reincarnation, we are not limited to one life in order to build up our character:
You have all of that in your hands.
You must decide for yourself what you will make of your life.
Do you wish to achieve joy?
It is possible.
Do you wish to feel and experience sun every day, spiritual possession?
That lies in your hands.
However, you received the essential points for this building up, the reincarnating of your character traits by means of fatherhood and motherhood, reincarnation.

In this way, we can drive every thought and every character trait to the love:
Man and woman want to experience love, but refuse to give birth and to create for every thought.
I have learned, my Master, that all my character traits want to be given birth to and created and I do everything for that!
For that purpose I make my life liked and I am open to all the life of God!
The Cosmology of Jozef Rulof Part 5, 1944
Then our character can be listened to with happiness:
(Lady in the hall): ‘Does that voice have something to do with the character?’
Yes.
(Lady in the hall): ‘There are people who have a very pleasant voice, and people who, when people hear them speak ...’
Then you tremble and shake.
(Lady in the hall): ‘Precisely.’
Does the voice have to do with the character?
Now we come to the personality.
Now you hear the human being singing, and now the personality sings.
If the personality has a lot of feeling ...
And then you see that again in all the arts, not in the sciences, but in all the arts.
If you have a violin, just go and sit at the piano; one is sensitive, and the other hits that organ, like that, so that you close your ears, you cannot listen to that.
So you now get to see the life of feeling by means of art.

Loving the life
The soul as the life in the human being is wonderful:
The human being does not realise, madam, how wonderful the human being is as life; not yet as character, as personality.
But as life I have so much respect for life, but not for the character and the personality: we must just await that, that will come later.
Questions and Answers Part 3, 1952
Jozef has learned to love the life in the human being:
If you love the life, then that character and that personality will come of their own accord.
When it started then I said to master Alcar: ‘What must I take care of from society, those characters?’
He says: ‘Love the life, then you will take care of everything.’
It happens of its own accord, as long as you love the life in you, as long as you get hold of that.
Questions and Answers Part 4, 1952
Christ showed the way:
And now you say every day, the Other Side hears, space hears that: “I can do it.
It is not possible.”
There are always feelings in us which come up and prevent me from doing the good, being love.
It is not a question of giving love, you do not need to give anything, you only have to be it.
To be, to think, to feel harmonically, and then you come of course to Gethsemane again and then you are faced with the human being and then we will see how the Christ, the Messiah, gave the picture for the human being, how to act.
If another cheats, you do not need to do it.
If another is too lazy to look at the heavens, then you do it: you yearn, you long.
