The construction of our will

Master Zelanus describes how André (Jozef Rulof) makes it clear to a member of the audience that he certainly has an own will, because without that will the member of the audience would not object at all to everything being taken from him:
The human being also speaks about: “Do you have an own will?”
The academic says: “Does the human being have an own will?
Why don’t you do that?”
André says: “Just give me that, if you do not have any will anyway, come and give me that.”
Lectures Part 2, 1951
That will was built up by means of many lives.
At a contact evening Jozef illustrates this with an example of what a man is left with after fighting against the elements with his boat.
If that human being later starts to deploy that developed will in order to give another human being happiness, then he builds on his spiritual personality:
When that man there was at sea – he was fighting with a boat like that, wasn’t he – I think: ‘Yes, you are doing something for yourself.
What remains of that, is only willpower.
That is everything.
That man has willpower.
The rest is all sensation.
But in order to devote that willpower – I thought – for a human being, even if you do it for your own consciousness, in order to give the human being the happiness and the blessing and the space ...
Now devote your soul and bliss for that, sir, then it will become beautiful.
And I am always busy building that up in every human being, because I know what your garment will be like soon, what you will be like as a mother there.
Here you become old, but not from inside, and that continues to live.
Questions and Answers Part 2, 1951
The human will can be equated with the personality:
“The own will, doctor, is the personality.
Will and personality are synonymous!
And that is the life!
That life is conscious by means of the personality.
Masks and Men, 1948

The forging of one will

However, just like the personality the human will is fragmented:
You will say: ‘I want’, madam, but then it is still not from inside.
And then you say: ‘I will.’
But then there is still a hold inside from before which does not want to go along.
And in this way the human being, the personality, is fragmented.
Questions and Answers Part 4, 1952
In order to focus that fragmented will on one point, it is necessary to put the inner life in line:
You can bring an animal to heel.
Why would you not be able to do that with your own life of feeling?
Questions and Answers Part 4, 1952
We do not make progress with weak wills:
I will put an end to weak willed behaviour ...
I myself, and no one else, will accept my life.
And now I start to act for myself.
I used to be like a ball being passed back and forth to other people ...
Consciously or unconsciously, people pulled me away from everyday art.
Because everything, no matter what, is art, unless it takes you to the natural, the harmonic, to Him?
Masks and Men, 1948
Just as with the various character traits and sub-personalities, it is the question whether we can align all the powers of feeling:
You will see Jeus, Jozef, André-Dectar.
You will soon also have to decide for yourself who you now actually are.
But when you go out the door and disappear from here, who are you then?
Is your word in harmony with the laws of space?
I keep coming back to you in order to begin with the lectures, the analysis.
And then we ask each other: “Am I that far?
Am I ready?
Do I just have one will?”
Lectures Part 3, 1952
For Jozef Rulof it is his sub-personality André which takes on the other powers of feeling in order to expand his spiritual self:
You asked André this week: “Does the human being have a will?
Is the human being natural in his will?”
“The will”, André soon says to Jeus, “I was that.
Playfulness is now no longer tolerated, I no longer need coarse, dialect, Gelderland chatter”, André says, “because people laugh at me.
You and Jozef will represent me.
Because who, who spoke to father?
Who played on the clouds?
That was I.
That was I and not you.”
And this better self, this inner awakening for you, is the cosmology in order to lay foundations for your spiritual self.
Lectures Part 3, 1952
His spiritual self wants nothing to do with tiredness:
The will in order to write, what is that?
We do not ask for tiredness.
What is tiredness?
Lectures Part 2, 1951
“That body serves me in order to bring, to take me to the reincarnation for space, for the soul, for the spirit, for the light, for fatherhood, for motherhood.
That body will serve me.
We have”, André says, “nothing to do with any tiredness.
Lectures Part 2, 1951
Master Zelanus asks his members of the audience how much percent of their inner self longs for spiritual knowledge, and which of them has already began with the spiritual awakening:
That which is now longing this morning, is that a hundred percent balanced, inspired?
Is that inner life of yours – would I now, can I now first ask you – a hundred percent knowing, loving, harmony, just?
Do you now have your whole personality here in this building, at the place where the cosmology for your life will begin?
Do you wish to deceive me, do you wish to deceive the masters, do you wish to deceive space that you are really sitting here spiritually for a hundred thousand percent?
The cosmic mantraps and traps lie here.
And that is that Wimpie, that Pietje, whom you now call Piet; an adult personality, a human being who is ready, who must slave away and work in society in order to find his existence.
Did we not go with you through that existence?
Did we not sympathize with you because we know what the plodding away here on earth is like?
But the will, the human will, the wanting to devote, and the wanting to make of every thought: a journey to the moon; the being ready for the better self in the human being.
You are all instruments.
You all have contact with your Deity.
But, have you already started with that?
Lectures Part 3, 1952
Jozef has experienced that he was not given his spiritual awakening for free, but that he had to elevate the light for this from himself:
And now it comes, that André had to accept when Master Alcar said: “André, if you want to experience light for a thought, then get that light from yourself and bring it to evolution.
Give it more and more light, because then you will see that that light attracts your feeling again and when the feeling starts to speak, then the human will reveals itself in the human being, which can do everything, which possesses everything.
