Physical disorder

Usually apparent death is a material disorder which people can be healed of or can die of.
During a contact evening, a woman asks:
(Lady in the hall): ‘Yes, I don’t know, actually.
What is apparent death actually?
By what means do you become apparently dead?’
Questions and Answers Part 6, 1951
Master Zelanus answers:
That is a material disorder.
No more than that.
So it is an illness.
And that illness brings the human being into ‘the coffin’.
But an illness.
So you can conquer that illness and you can also die because of that.
(Lady in the hall): ‘Oh yes, now I understand it.’
And now ...
But that is an injustice, do you see?
There is something not right.
Because the normal death dies, is death.
And the apparent death has nothing to do with death.
(Lady in the hall): ‘No.’
So you can now be apparently dead because of a disorder.
It is a sort of calcification, but that lies deeply spiritually and has a spiritual influence.
The real, people still have to establish the pure apparent death.
Because the spirit must absorb and deal with it with regard to the body, and it is a material disorder, because the spirit is awake and the body no longer works.
So now the human being gets an illness, it is not called cancer now, but apparent death, and is exactly the same thing.
Questions and Answers Part 6, 1951
All the peoples are familiar with apparent death:
Yet a great deal of people experienced the apparent death, all peoples experienced this grade of sleep. It is scientifically proven, but people do not know the actual illness.

Deep sleep

Apparent death can be considered as a deep grade of sleep.
For an overview of the seven grades of sleep, we refer to the sources of the article ‘out-of-body experience’.
The first book by Jozef Rulof ‘A View into the Hereafter’ describes how the life auras dissolve in the spirit in apparent death.
By the life auras, the writer means the forces which the spirit uses to allow the earthly body to function.
For the earth it then appears that someone is dead, because functioning of the body can no longer be perceived:
Here the auras of life dissolve in the spirit.
This is clearly demonstrated by the physical body.
A View into the Hereafter, 1936
Apparent death can also occur as desired.
Some people have reached this grade of sleep by means of concentration and strong will.
Some fakirs have got their body so far under control that they can continue to feed it in an apparent death state by means of the fluid cord, the connection between spirit and body.
If this fluid cord does not break, they can hold on to the apparent death state without really dying.
There are people who have achieved this through concentration and strong will power.
An example of this are the fakirs.
They can be buried and remain under the ground for days; they are even capable of prolonging their life on earth and invigorating it by draining off other people’s vital juices.
When they let themselves be buried, the physical body is fed and its condition maintained by the fluid cord.
A View into the Hereafter, 1936
The fakir needs a few hours of total darkness to attain this condition.
This darkness is necessary because the vital aura would dissolve in daylight, which would prevent him from reaching his intended goal.
Following this he can be buried and even after a long period he will reappear alive.
Their powers of concentration are focussed accurately on the physical body; it’s under their complete control and they can subject matter to their will power.
A View into the Hereafter, 1936
Accordingly, a fakir can reach this state of apparent death by withdrawing the vital powers from his material body, which means that it’s no longer under any spiritual influence, except for one single percent of energy.
When he returns into his material body, the aura of life will function like an electrical current reactivating the machine.
So the material body is alive but has been deprived of its activity.
This intense power of concentration is a gift, which is directly linked to mediumship. Nevertheless, it also requires spiritual help from this side to establish this.
So if they don’t possess the gift of submittance, they won’t be able to achieve this.
A View into the Hereafter, 1936
One or two magicians also come that far:
If the magician wishes to go even deeper, then his thinking takes him to the unconscious trance.
Now he lies down and is asleep, but spiritually awake, or he would not be able to experience anything.
He can take himself to the epileptic sleep, the deepest sleep, which the organism possesses, and now lets himself be buried alive.
However, two of all those fakirs and magicians at the most, achieve that in the East, the rest do not become released from themselves.
In this state, the apparent death, the heartbeat weakens and stops beating materially.
However, the heart has to function, or death will come.
But the heart is now at astral strength, which means, the astral heartbeat.
That personality now dominates all material systems and has withdrawn itself between life and death.
Now he can do what he wants; experience the occult phenomena, or, let himself be buried alive if he wishes that.
In order to follow these phenomena, he does not even need to stay in this sleep; this possibility was offered two grades ago.
Spiritual Gifts, 1943
The westerner has no conscious apparent death:
Not one single Westerner experiences the fifth, sixth and seventh grade of sleep, they are only for a magician; there he experiences his spiritual skills and lets himself be buried because of this.
Here he experiences the epileptic sleep and now lets himself be buried, because that is then possible for him, if he has overcome these grades.
If these seven grades of sleep did not exist, you would never have heard talk of apparent death, because they are the last grades of sleep which take you into the apparent death.

New life aura

During a contact evening, Jozef Rulof reads a written question from a member of the audience:
Here I have another article: ‘According to the Waspada paper there is someone living in Atjeh aged two hundred and eight years.
This person was born in the year 1742 in the regency of Pidie in Atjeh.
According to the paper Abdoerachman still looks healthy.
His sight is no longer so good, but his hearing is excellent.
He claims to have died once already.
After his funeral he had risen from his grave again, to the dismay of the bystanders, who took to their heels in great haste.
Can you give us an answer, Mr Rulof?’
Questions and Answers Part 1, 1950
Jozef indicates that this person was not really dead, but apparently dead:
Audience, this is also something, which connects you to apparent death.
This is no different to apparent death!
We are concerned here with being able to know, who this long life of this human being is actually possible.
And yet this is not so strange, when you know the spiritual laws for the human organism and for reincarnation.
Questions and Answers Part 1, 1950
In Ancient Egypt these laws were better known:
The ancient Egyptians also knew these laws and many people lived to a hundred years there, because they mastered that possibility of life by means of occult study.
These are not stories, this is the truth.
In addition met by numerous researchers and made known in the West.
Questions and Answers Part 1, 1950
During his apparent death, Abdoerachman absorbed new life aura, just like every soul does that with a reincarnation.
As a result, he could begin a new life, but in his case therefore in the same body.
This is because his body was never really ‘dead’, it did not die, because the spiritual heartbeat continued to feed the earthly body during the apparent death and the fluid cord was not broken:
Here purely the phenomenon of dying is present, the heart no longer beats materially, but spiritually a heartbeat can be detected and if that is not there, the spirit becomes free from the material systems as the astral personality and must leave the organism.
But if the spiritual heartbeat is present, the spirit absorbs the new life aura into it at this moment and therefore receives a further new existence, which is now also the reincarnation.
Questions and Answers Part 1, 1950
In the article ‘Dying as passing on’, you will find more information about dying.

Lazarus

Lazarus also experienced the apparent death, or ... Christ would not have been able to do anything.
Soon, when the academics know the soul, the spirit and the astral life, everything will be different.
Then the human being will not have to run away from a grave, because the dead person arose, because the doctor will then know when the human being is apparently dead and then there will be no question of burying!
