Youth personality

When Jozef Rulof has become an adult, he talks on a regular basis to his youth personality ‘Jeus’.
He is talking to the unconscious part of his personality, which is still called Jeus.
The Cosmology of Jozef Rulof Part 1, 1944
Master Zelanus has described the youth personality ‘Jeus’ in detail in the biography of Jozef Rulof ‘Jeus of Mother Crisje’.
At a contact evening, he says about this that when writing the first part of the biography he was ‘very playful’, in order to be able to depict the playful character of Jeus.
For writing this biography, he had to learn the dialect, to do justice to the adorable language of Jeus.
Also in order to ‘elevate’ Jeus to the mediumship, he had to speak to Jeus in the language of his youthful life, so that Jeus would feel the masters as familiar.
And then, I was very playful.
I said ‘good God, that on top of everything else’ just as often as Jeus.
The human being looks: the masters are speaking dialect.
Yes, we had to and would, or we could not have elevated this life.
And then, that is also the sweetest language of all the languages which we have got to know.
Why?
Because the life speaks now.
Are there not precisely many sweet things in the dialect?
I had to master that.
Questions and Answers Part 6, 1951
Every human being possesses the childlike in him:
Every human being actually has to experience that.
Do art and you will be it!
How many character traits does the human being not possess?
And they got an own life and an own personality here, and also an own independence by means of which you can get to know yourself.
Every human being possesses the child-like, which never dies, but which will get the adult consciousness one day, or you will still be at a standstill.
And it is also wonderful, anyone who has now lost that child-like, therefore feels adult in everything, lacks that beautiful, that pure life of feeling, by means of which the human being is lovely, remains the child of Christ.
Did Christ not speak about that?
“Let the children come to Me, because the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them”, is now Jeus for André, but that child also stands before the Cosmology and has to master the laws for that.
The Cosmology of Jozef Rulof Part 3, 1944
When ‘The Cosmology of Jozef Rulof’ is going to be experienced, the youth personality Jeus also does his best to talk standard Dutch, because people cannot get anywhere now with his dialect:
“Of course, I have seen it anyway.”
“It is fine that we are now also completely rid of the dialect.
We have nothing more to do with our childhood now and will go consciously further.
The Cosmology of Jozef Rulof Part 4, 1944

Theo and Jack

In the book ‘Through the Grebbe line to Eternal Life’ Theo’s father tells why we know so little about our past lives.
He had the feeling to become a doctor, but that was not successful because he was reincarnated in order to make amends.
His twin soul Angelica explains to him that he was a doctor in a past life, and that this medical interest has remained as feeling in the new life:
‘In a previous life on earth I was a doctor, Theo.
Now do not laugh, I am speaking the sacred truth.
In that life I got to know you, we were friends.
You were called Jack then.
Do you understand now why I longed to become a doctor in this life?
But it was not to be, I was here to make up for things.’
‘But father, if that is true, where did that knowledge go which you possessed as a doctor?’
‘Angelica says that the soul has to experience the new life upon birth on earth and that is why the past disappears.
When we awaken in the mother and during the time when we are growing into a child, the past in us disappears and the new life with its new laws takes its place.
It does continue to be a part of our consciousness, but it has then become feeling.’
Through the Grebbe Line to Eternal Life, 1942
The father of Theo can explain these laws thanks to the images which are shown to him by his twin soul Angelica.
Angelica shows that if a human being attunes himself to one question, that the soul as a human being sends itself to the replying to such a question by experiencing a state which gives an answer to this:
It is Angelica, who showed me those images, in past incarnations you already sought to find out what the soul experiences when it is suddenly torn from the body as a result of an accident, for example.
It appears strange to possess such a mania, but they do not laugh about it here in the spheres of light.
They know that we people will always follow the feelings which consume our lives and our whole being.
However, a person must know why he is searching in a certain direction.
Is it because of the study, as it was in your case, or, on the other hand, for sensationalism?
In the latter case, a person does not gain anything spiritually, but his development stands still.
I will give you the example of a group of people, who are likewise occupied with your problem, that is, inventors who stake their lives every day in order to give humanity something.
They are actually constantly preparing for their death.
They also have questions like this, what will happen if the invention on which they are working should become fatal.
They want to know where the life of their soul will then go.
If the longing to know this lives deep within a person, it will keep coming back to him, so that it becomes a part of the person, then it awakens laws, that means that one day, in a certain life, a person will be faced with the accomplishment of this longing, they will then experience the body being torn apart and the releasing of the soul with a shock; a person has then become the law himself.
Through the Grebbe Line to Eternal Life, 1942
These laws are brought to life by the human will:
But the experiencing of Theo from the book ‘The Grebbe Line’ now, is purely spiritual science.
He wanted to experience this and now the human ‘will’ is tuned into the event.
Questions and Answers Part 1, 1950
Jozef also says: ‘Everything, which we do as a result of our conscious ‘will’ and with our spirit, so want to experience for the life on the other side, also happens and that is also for our life on earth.
Questions and Answers Part 1, 1950
When Theo looks back on his life, he feels that it was Jack within him who made the important decision to become a professional soldier:
Now that I had tuned in to the decision which had made me accept the army as a profession, the feelings which brought this about came back to me.
They did not come from myself and yet they did!
It was as if two personalities lived inside me, one dominating the other and enforcing its will.
One of them, the weaker one, was called Theo.
What was the other one called?
Then the name Jack came to me.
Was Jack that other one?
Then he could lead me to the meaning of my important decision to become a professional soldier.
Through the Grebbe Line to Eternal Life, 1942
Jack wanted to find out everything about the soul in his life as a psychiatrist.
He wanted to know in particular whether the soul can withstand everything, also a dreadful physical shock.
He talked about this in that life with his friends Angelica and her husband, who later became his father in the life of Theo:
If what you accept is true, that we have had several lives, is it also a fact that the soul cannot be destroyed?
Not even by a terrible shock which tears the body to bits?
If it is really true that we get more than one life, it only becomes more difficult for me.
After all, the tremendous number of impressions would also be recorded in the soul, which a person experienced in all those previous lives.
It makes my head reel even just thinking about it, which also means new problems.
Whatever the case, it is still wonderful to follow the life of the soul, to try to fathom, to unravel it.
If what you think is true, that we have lived several lives and can come back again, then it would make me intensely happy.
I would want to keep coming back to life, again and again, until I know everything about the human soul.
I will do anything for it.
Give myself if necessary.
I would like to lose myself, let my body be torn apart in order to find out what the soul then experiences.
Through the Grebbe Line to Eternal Life, 1942
When Theo analyses his earthly life afterwards, he feels that Jack started to dominate his inner life more and more, the more the event which belonged to the study of Jack came closer by.
Jack finally started to dominate Theo, because the strongest developed personality takes the lead:
As Jack there is only one goal which drives me.
I received my life in order to make up for something and to experience it.
I am now faced with this experience.
My life as Jack, who is a scholar, exceeds my consciousness as Theo.
But they will soon pass over into each other.
I can now feel that.
Then – after the event which awaits me – the life of Jack will dominate completely, and this is possible, since I have experienced nothing in the life of Theo which shocked my soul.
I now start to feel more deeply than before and I am very grateful to father for this.
The things I get to feel and deal with are very enriching.
It becomes increasingly clear to me that it is not Theo who wants to experience this, but Jack.
Theo did not have any feelings as a scholar, he did not know anything about this study, which belonged to Jack.
During this last life on earth I am Theo and I belong to father.
In that other life, however, there was also a bond between us, he was my friend then.
In this way it is possible for him to help me now, which would otherwise undoubtedly have remained impossible.
How complicated a person is, it now becomes clear to me.
It has become silent inside Jack.
Theo still only exists for twenty-five percent of who I am.
To him there is no war or horror, he sees everything as in a dream.
On the other hand, Jack is intensely aware, he is tuned into one point and is preparing himself for the experience.
Father has helped him with this.
It is now a case of waiting for the things which will happen.
Through the Grebbe Line to Eternal Life, 1942
Also in the spheres of light, Jack builds further on his lives with a spiritual significance:
Jack will completely obliterate Theo, when Theo has finished his life.
Jack burns with a longing to start, he wants to continue his study, do something for science and therefore for humanity.
Of the two personalities within me, it is Jack who has something good, something useful to bring.
In the spheres we only continue to build on the lives in which we worked for a task, a commission, which has spiritual significance.
This is why the life of Theo has to recede in me, because he has nothing to bring the world, he lived the life of a small, carefree child.
Oh, how clear and real everything is.
The hard, restless life of Jack in order to get to know the soul, in the interests of suffering humanity, has made him into a personality which became more powerful in each further life.
It is this personality these realm of emotions, this Jack, whose will to serve, whose inspiration, oppresses another personality in me.
It is also he who, once in the spheres, immediately looks for ways which can bring him to the fulfilment of his ideals.
It could not be any other way.
‘I want to study, father, to know everything which my soul can deal with.
Then I will probably be allowed to go back to the earth one day.
I really hope so, father.
I long for nothing except the new birth.
I want to advance science, I want to pass on everything which I may experience here about humanity and the life of its soul.
Through the Grebbe Line to Eternal Life, 1942
Jack wants to reincarnate again in order to bring spiritual knowledge to mankind.
The father of Theo explains that this yearning puts laws in motion as a result of which he will reincarnate before other souls, who are only attuned to themselves:
We receive our lives in order to gain experience, in order to fight our bad qualities and to make up for wrong-doings.
And the last three lives, which are given to us are to make us find a spiritual balance.
We recover then from all the great things experienced and master the higher consciousness.
Can you feel the order of this?’
‘I understand you, father, but I want to think about these great things for a bit longer.
Can you now therefore call yourself a spiritually conscious person, father?’
‘Yes, my son, I was able to master this.
I started with it in previous lives, and I could move towards it in my last life on earth.’
‘If I understand all of this correctly, father, you have already been to this side several times in order to go back to the earth from here.’
‘That happened.
I got this mercy from God.
Angelica was able to experience it and millions along with us.’
‘But is life on earth so easy to receive?’
‘If we are occupied with our consciousness, if we want to serve and we long to be active on earth, then we awaken a law and it even takes precedence over all other laws.’
‘Is that through God, father?’
‘Through the cosmic laws of good and evil, Theo.’
‘Where is this leading me this time, father?’
‘I will explain it to you.
The law which we awaken, sends us back to the earth, and in order to keep the balance between good and evil.
This law is so important and it is therefore fulfilled before all other laws, because, you can sense, little or nothing would become of the earth if higher degrees of consciousness did not live there.
Do you sense what this means?’
‘If I understand it correctly, is it the case that if I want good and another person wants evil, I go before him and receive life there?’
‘You are touching upon the reality of it, but not completely.
Souls destined for darkness do not have a say, they have to go back.
Their destiny demands that, how would they be able to go higher, further, if life on earth was denied them?
What would happen if these dark souls were to rule the world?’
‘So God makes sure there is balance?’
‘Yes, through Him we move onto the laws of life and death.
We then receive a task on earth and soon we are drawn there.’
‘I did not read anything about that on earth, did I, father?’
‘No, the earth does not have this wisdom yet.
It would not be understood there, because it concerns cosmic laws.
Soon, however, this wisdom will come to earth, it will be brought by the masters themselves.’
‘For the new age, therefore, which is coming now?’
‘For that reason, my son, and everyone of us in the spheres of light is prepared to devote themselves completely to this.’
‘I also want to work, father, help the masters in their task.
But then I will surely have to learn a lot, won’t I?’
‘Of course, my son, however, you will achieve it.
Just start, you will then be ready later when you receive the laws for your task.
However, you first have to do some work for Angelica and her master.’
Through the Grebbe Line to Eternal Life, 1942
That work is the writing of the book ‘Through the Grebbe line to Eternal Life’.
Here he describes his centuries-old study:
I reflected upon the illnesses which ate at body and soul as a result of shocks experienced.
I had been occupied with this research for life after life, I delved deeper and deeper, but even in this life as a scholar I did not achieve total knowledge.
During my last life I myself experienced the most tremendous shock which a person can experience, my own body being blown up.
It was the fulfilment of a wish which had guided me in all those lives of research.
I wanted to experience the shock personally, because in this way I thought I would be able to gain knowledge and to achieve the goal of my age-long study.
Through the Grebbe Line to Eternal Life, 1942
Such a centuries-old study cannot be carried out in one life:
That would be impossible in one life.
A person’s life is already too short to turn one bad quality into a good one.
How many qualities make up our character?
Could I work myself up to a height in art, in science in one simple life?
Could I master a world of feeling in one life?
Could I prepare myself for a heaven in one life?
Millions of laws rule Divine life, I have to know them all consciously, could I manage that in fifty, sixty years?

Who within us reads these articles?

At a contact evening a member of the audience comes back to a lecture that was given by master Zelanus.
The four sub-personalities were discussed then which can be distinguished in the life of Jozef Rulof: Jeus, Jozef, André and Dectar.
Dectar is the priest from Ancient Egypt who is highlighted in the book ‘Between Life and Death’.
The member of the audience does not understand how this soul lost the mystical knowledge of Dectar in later lives:
(Gentleman in the hall): ‘I would like to come back to the lecture from last Sunday.
Yes.
There we talked about the four personalities in the person of Jozef.’
Wonderful.
‘And we talked about Dectar who had the priesthood in the temples and was the winged one.
Yes.
About André, Jeus and Jozef.
Yes.
And if we now take that winged one, Dectar, as a priest, then it is actually inexplicable how he was able to and had to lose his priesthood during all those lives.’
Questions and Answers Part 2, 1951
Jozef answers that he has never lost that priestly inner life:
He did lose them!
(Hall): ‘No.’
(Gentleman in the hall): ‘Not Dectar.’
What is priesthood?
What is that?
Questions and Answers Part 2, 1951
Jozef feeds this question back to the member of the audience:
Who longs in you to sit here? Who is that of you?
(Gentleman in the hall): ‘I myself.’
Those who were born here in The Hague?
(Gentleman in the hall): ‘Now, probably not.’
There you have it.
That is perhaps also someone from the temple, sir. Because you can think sharply, you ask good questions, you have got a great longing to read those books, to listen to me, here, in this life now.
Sir, did you learn this here in The Hague?
(Gentleman in the hall): ‘Not yet.’
There you have it now.
That Dectar in me, that is the mysticism, so characteristics in my life of feeling which are open to mysticism.
Questions and Answers Part 2, 1951
How great is the part of our personality which already wishes to enrich itself spiritually?
I say to Mr Van Rossen just now: ‘You are called Nico, aren’t you?
Now, this one, who is now a man, he has to do with that child of the old days.
This personality listens and wants to yearn, but that man, that child of the old days still lives in him.
And would you think that that child is also already conscious?
Do you not fight every day against feelings from the old days which still live in you and which do not wish to be mysticism by any means?
Are there no feelings in you, ladies and gentlemen, which still find it perfectly ordinary, but are not a part of spiritual research by far?
Have all those feelings in you started to yearn, are they hungry?
Who is sitting here listening?
But there is a lot to that.
And all of you are (that).
And in this way, master Alcar says, you start to understand yourself.
And we have to do with your youth.
Do you sometimes not do something which still has attunement to your youth or twenty years ago, when you beat left and right from you?
And what is that ... going to ...
Do you mean that all those characteristics from the olden days, from the time, ten years ago, twenty years ago, that they are already a part of that wanting and that yearning?
Questions and Answers Part 2, 1951
Perhaps we only allow one part of our personality to deal with the social task with which we earn our daily bread:
And, sir and madam, all of you are that. Did you bring everything so far in your characteristics that all your characteristics are spiritually harmonic?
Are they all here?
‘Pull the other one’, Frederik says, ‘but that is not possible.’
Is that not honest?
(Gentleman in the hall): ‘Yes, indeed.’
You have two, ten, twenty personalities, they have a name.
You are that in your work, but are you just as spiritually true in your work as our teachings tell us that we have to do, have learned?
Questions and Answers Part 2, 1951

Multiple personality

Sometimes a sub-personality can cause problems:
Today you are called Mientje or Anneke, but in a fortnight you suddenly have those strange airs and graces, and then your husband no longer understands you because then it is: Mrs Anna.
(Jozef talks with an upper-class accent.) Then she says: ‘I want something else.’
Then something high, something noble appears.
And then you say: ‘Say, where are you getting those strange thoughts from?’
‘Money!’
And if the husband does not understand me then and she does not understand it, then that reaches consciousness even more strongly, and then we have an argument.
Then she says: ‘Go away, skinflint.’
And if the woman is not strong in her love for the family, then she looks at the other one who does have money.
And then we say: ‘What a miracle that is.
She walks away just like that.’
Sir, but it could be her past.
Because she does not understand herself.
Now you will think: He is justifying everything.
But the human being is that deep.
Questions and Answers Part 4, 1952
The human being who does not accept reincarnation, does not get to know the personality completely:
(Gentleman in the hall): ‘Society still does not want to accept such a thing.’
But society cannot accept it either.
(Gentleman in the hall): ‘No, of course not.’
The psychologist says: ‘The human being is on earth for the first time.
When a child is born that is for the first time.
Because God always makes new souls.’
The psychologist is powerless and cannot accept reincarnation.
Questions and Answers Part 4, 1952

Splitting of the personality

In the book ‘Masks and Men’, Frederik tells how René explains the suicide of Vincent van Gogh to him.
Van Gogh would not have had to end his life in this way if he had been able to reflect more deeply:
‘Van Gogh’, he says, ‘would not have had to lose his life, if he had been able to think.
But that soul thought wrongly.
What he should have thought did not occur to him.’
Masks and Men, 1948
When Van Gogh reached for a revolver, he did not know that he would destroy himself:
Van Gogh experienced his art through his soul, and yet, who tells us that he let his soul speak at full power?
I see it differently.
Van Gogh experienced art, but went to pieces as a result of his experiences.
Then he grasped for a revolver and shot himself through the head.
I bet you, Frederik, that he did not know that he would destroy himself, because then you do not do it.
Can you sense what I mean?’
Masks and Men, 1948
Only ten percent of his personality pulled the trigger:
Van Gogh also did not know at the moment of his deed what he was doing.
At the moment of his fall, something forced him into that state, but he stood outside of it as an artist and personality and could have looked at himself.
However, because he did not know the laws, he beat himself down.
And that is the world for the ‘soul’ and the universe for our ‘spirit’!
For Vincent it was a personality split.
He could not reason his situation, because he could not think, because then you speak with your own life and the other life also has something to say!
Did you know this, Frederik?
Then Vincent was faced with suicide, but only poorly, I mean, for ten percent at the most, ten percent life content, drive, the rest of his great character did not take part.
Masks and Men, 1948
This splitting of the personality not only poses a risk of suicide:
Or did you think, Frederik, that murderers always want to lose themselves with all their powers?
Did you think that people like us cannot commit murder at ten percent willpower?
I believe it very definitely, because the things themselves come and tell you.
Masks and Men, 1948

That one self

When André starts with his most important work ‘The Cosmology of Jozef Rulof’, he has to combine all the thoughts of all his sub-personalities into one concentration:
And then André already feels at the moment that his Jeus, his self from ’s-Heerenberg will adjust itself to the situation in which he now lives and that this is after all finally necessary.
But now, now every thought must help and support him.
He must start to devote the full hundred percent for the source of cosmology.
Lectures Part 3, 1952
In every human being all the sub-personalities will have to ultimately be part of that one self:
He feels that his other self, those character traits awaken.
He starts to feel that Jeus is also reaching becoming conscious.
That Pietje, that Hendrikje and that Jopie, but just say Johan, that Johan, that Herman, that Hendrik and that Nico – what are the names called? – those Frans’, they must now represent the name as a personality and they are no longer little Piets, no little Johans, that must be part of that one self.
And I will devote everything in order to begin with the real work, the journey to the source which created everything.
Lectures Part 3, 1952
In the spheres of light there is no longer any place for various sub-personalities:
Now Jeus and Jozef have dissolved, and he no longer knows it.
But they will also get to know these laws and master them.
Before he leaves from the earth, so goes into the coffin here, he will also elevate Jeus and Jozef into him and every human being must do that, in the Spheres of Light there is no longer any question of splitting of personality.
The Cosmology of Jozef Rulof Part 2, 1944
